We were searching for a great restaurant in the historic section of Ghent, and came across this fabulous Indonesian restaurant around the corner from the Gravensteen Castle.
It is owned by a married couple: the gentleman is a native of Ghent and his Indonesian wife who prepares all the authentic cuisine.
The atmosphere is chic and modern yet warm with Indonesian collectibles and there is a view of the owner’s spectacular courtyard garden.
The service is wonderfully friendly and attentive and eager to translate and accommodate those who don’t speak Dutch.
Prices are very reasonable and the liquor menu is very extensive with an offering of great Belgium beers and Indonesian cocktails (and traditional ones as well).
If you want a change from standard Belgium cuisine and a real zing to the senses come to this place! You won’t be disappointed.
Also great for vegetarians.
